Default Engine wires

2005 X-type 3.0L U.S.
Replacing the water pump and came across two wires in the engine bay that seem to lead to nowhere (see pic).
One was connected to the underside of the battery box. It has a light green and light blue wire. The battery box receptacle is a dead end.
The other was located under the fuel throttle body assembly and just hanging loose. It has a brown (or purple) and black wire. The other end appears to dive under and between the manifolds headed toward the timing belt end of the engine (or it could dive down toward the radiator).
Can anyone provide insight as to the purpose of the wires and what they should be connected to? Vehicle runs fine with them not connected.
Thanks in advance. Happy holidays to you all.
Squito

Squito, the wires on the back of hte batty box are from when the car was shipped over from England. Those were used to maintain the battery charged. Connect them back to hte battery box and call them good. As for the other connector, I am not sure what that would be for. I would have to get back home and look at the diagrams to see if I could match up a connector.

Thermo,
Hope you had a good holiday and are safely home.
Any more thoughts on the wire? Best I can tell it goes into a wrapped wire bundle underneath the throttle body.
Thanks in advance

Can't tell the wire colors because of the dirt. Are they red & green? If so, most likely the TPS sensor.

Dell, as noted in the original post, it is a brown (or purple) and black wire. It was not connected to anything and the engine/car runs fine with it hanging loose.

Squito, not back yet. But, like was asked by Dell, if you can look at the wires and get the specific colors, that would help a lot. Some of the wires will have a colored stripe on them. These are normally referred to using the process of the main color being first then the second color (stripe) color with a slash between the two. So a blue wire with a red stripe would be written as Blue/red wire.

Update on this thread....
Still looking for assistance as to identification of the brown (or purple) and black wire in the area beneath the throttle body and duct.
The light green and light blue wire has been identified as a trickle charge when shipping the car.
Thank you.

Squito,
Is it the connector that goes to the ignition capacitor?
On my variant the capacitor is located on small bracket attached to engine below throttle body intake flexible pipe.
Red/white stripe and black wires so doesn't match your picture entirely but location is similar.

I see the connection on my vehicle that you refer to and that's different. The car operates fine...I would think not if it were the ignition capacitor.
