My Estate rear window air struts are bad. This winter, in the cold weather, the tailgate no longer stays up on its own. I've been using a stick to hold the rear liftgate up. A few days ago, in heavy winds, the lift gate blew up further, the stick fell out and it fell very quickly onto my head. Ouch! Gave me a huge knot on the top of my head. (Plus a lot of jumping around, numerous profanities, along with birds and stars flying around my peripheral vision.
I've searched the forum but have not been able to find a description of the best way to lower the rear of the headliner in order to replace the 2 window struts. (Dell Gailey to the rescue?)
I did find this searching the web, they they don't explain how to replace the window struts: https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=55320
Has anyone recently purchased a set of 4 of these struts? If yes, confirmation of the current P/Ns would be good. I'll purchase 8 of them to replace in both my Estates when I find the best price.
Forgot to ask if anyone researched higher eject force Struts for the Estate so the the tailgate might open on its own. (Like posted in threads about the regular X-type trunk struts.)
