Default Euro Front Plate?

Hey guys, I was thinking about buying a custom Euro front plate. I think it looks a lot cooler. I would make the plate have my actual license plate number, but spaced out like a Euro plate would be. It would have the GB on the left, like it's registered in Great Britain.

I have two questions:

1. How would I go about mounting one of these? I already have holes drilled for the American plate, but the Euro plate would cover that up so that isn't a problem.

2. How much attention do you think this will attract from the police? I don't want to get pulled over for it. My best guess is that they will only write me up for it if they pulled me over for something like speeding. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

I know you can buy euro license plate mounting frames and I would think mounting it would be pretty easy. Now how much attention from the police it would draw, that's another question. Could be no probblem at all, but could depemd on what city you are in/individual officer/time of day/ your age/etc. If you want to cause NO attention to yourself then don't do any mod that isn't 100% legal. 99% of the time it will be no problem. It's that other 1% that gets you in trouble. Your call. Me personally wouldn't do it, but that's because I am too lazy to change it back if I ever got busted.

We have a law here in FREE Nevada which states that if your car doesn't have a FACTORY front plate hanger, than you don't have to wear a front plate... My Alfa hasn't had to cary a front plate for many years...it is an 86 Spyder..red, of course. Gee, some places sure can screw up the look of the front of any car....

I live in CA, and here it's required unfortunately

The European mounting brackets can be found all over the place! Search it on Google and a bunch should show up.

I decided not to go with the Euro plate, it just attracts more attention from the police. I think I'm going to get a decorative 12 x 4 Jaguar license plate. But now I have another problem. I have no idea where to find a holder for that size! Normal American plates are 12 x 6!

I have done exactly what the OP wants to... I have a custom GB plate on the front of my car that reads that same as my normal NV plate.

I got my plate here: Make a Custom Euro Plate - German License Plates

I also ordered the mounting frame and just used the same holes as the US plate to mount it to my bumper.

edit: just saw that the OP is in CA. You WILL get pulled over for doing this... Sorry mate, that's what you have to deal with living in the Communistical Republic of California.

Euro Front Plate?-jagtag.jpgHere's a pic of my vanity Euro-plate. Its just my last name and it's no problem here in Alabama. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it and it gives the car a distinguished look I was going for. The tag is quite unique.

here is what a euro vanity plate looks like on an X-Type

I only run it at car shows to cover up the imperfections in the bumper where the license plate is normally mounted. Would be asking for trouble if I ran it daily and would look stupid if I ran it together with the Washington plate...

Edit: You can (and I would) mount with a generous amount of 3M molding tape. Don't drill into the bumper or even use existing mounting holes if you get one, no need.
