Default Exhaust note

Okay, sp this has really been bothering me, have any of you guys swapped out the muffler for a deeper sounding one, like magnaflow or flowmaster, or borla, but just the muffler, not the whole exhaust system. I want my car to sound a bit meaner ( its a 2.5) but not a ricer. and my second question is, should i leave the jag stock ( sounds quite and some freinds recomend it) or go with a muffler? And opinions, and if i did want to change the muffler how would i go about doing it.

I changed both the muffler system for a Borla, and alse the intake for a K&N. If you do both, the sound and performance will be noticable. As I have a 3.0 sport, I can't tell you just what the improvement will be like, but it will definately be noticable. Borla and K&N aren't too expensive.

I have the Borlas and K&N. You will NOT be disappointed. It is just a muffler swap as there is no real cat back system you can buy off the shelf. Pretty easy to do and they come with instructions. They look better and sound great. Throatier, but no obnoxious. For the money you can't beat it in my opinion. I bought mine from Mina Gallery. Had to wait a bit, but the price was right. You love them.

Disco, take a look at the muffler on your car. If you notice, the exhaust pipe comes in at an angle. That is going to be your hard step to get past. Without getting someone to modify your aftermarket muffler, finding one with an angled inlet is going to be hit and miss. Not saying that it can't be done, but it really narrows your choices. The only other option would be to find a really short muffler. But again, this is limiting your options.

I haven't started looking at mufflers, but I am considering it. If I can get a few extra ponies out of the car and get something that makes my car stand out, I'm all for it. Besides, I am wanting something to fill the opening in the lower valance on the back a bit better.
