Default Exhaust question....Thermo?

I know Thermo has done a couple of exhaust systems. My mufflers are still rock solid but there is some pitting on the tips so I was thinking about doing this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAIR-...Q5fAccessories

The 45 degree turn up is confusing me.

keep searching... there is a variation of this style of tips that does not have those bends. search "porsche tips" it is broad, and you'll spend an hour going through them all, but they are buried in there somewhere.

Sidewalkman, using the compatability piece in the middle of the page on E-bay, they say they are compatible with the X-Types. What I would do is to send an e-mail to the seller and specifically ask the question whether the item will fit on the X-Type or not and if the inlet to the tips is straight or has a bend in it. It may be the seller is just using a stock photo which may not accurately reflect what you are getting. Once you get confirmation from the seller that the inlet is straight, then go ahead and order them. Mounting them up will be pretty straight forward (just don't cut too close to the muffler, you will need a little bit of room to install the clamp and have something for the tip to hold on to). This way, if you get a tip that has the bend in it like the photo shows, you have some ground to fight with when you are attempting to get your money back.

If I remember correctly, which is getting less every day, don't the outlets of the X-Type have s slight downward slant to them that makes it difficult to substitute something else. Also it's a pain to cut away from the muffler without removing the outside stainless first? I could be wrong.

Yes, they do. Sidewalkman, if you get down on your knees and look at how the exhaust tips connect to the muffler, it should be really apparent that the Jag mufflers won't accept straight tips (due to the slant mohrd mentions) or the highly angled ones shown in the Ebay listing.

If you somehow manage to get these working, let us know. I'm sure a lot of us would upgrade to them.
