A few issues, 2004 jag X type
Ello all you sources of wisdom:
I have purchased a use Jag 2004 X type. This, is suspect many here would think is a good thing.
What is not so good is the fat that the battery in the key chains are dying, and I have no local dealer to Dover Delaware to change it. Sadly the trunk only opens this way. Ideas?
The hinge to the cover to the ashtray cover is broken. Suggestions for parts?
The glove compartment lock is busted. Even using the key to pull gently, I cannot open it. Perhaps not lock, but certainly the handle to open it is broken, missing. Suggestions?
Thanks for what is shared.

If you mean the key FOBS (flip key), the battery is easy to change, and readily available.
The bottom half of the fob separates from the top half. Then you split the lower half open. Pull out the old battery, put in the new. Depending on the fob (and how fast you swap the battery), you may have to re-link it to the car (there are how-tos all over the place for this).
The fob battery has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with whether the transponder works to start the car.

As Sone says the key FOB battery change is simple and only requires a screwdriver and a few minutes, not the type of job that requires an authorized Jag dealer. If you have a battery shop nearby, for instance here we have a chain called Batteries Plus Bulbs, they will replace the battery for you if you buy the battery from them.
For replacement parts you might look at the right side of the screen here on the forum for the "Vendor Directory". I have used and can recommend, in no particular order, SNG Barratt, JagBits, and TerrysJag.
For used parts you can use car-part dot com that searches scrap yards, try eBay, or search through this forum, there are people on here who part out X-Types.

As for parts, I would send a private message to member drdome, he parts out X's and is reliable and fair in pricing.
