Default first "real drive" report

The X is now registered and on the road, did a 70 mile journey today to celebrate!.

The coolant which i topped up is still at the max line :+)

When braking, coming to a stop a can hear a screeching sound from the drivers side, which continues for a moment when i pull away. The master cylinder is half full, so i assume the noise is from worn pads, sounds like the rear, but hard to tell.

steering wheel shimmys a small amount left and right while driving a straight road, i'm thinking a mix of worn tires and alignment.

Some vibration coming from the rear, probably a mix of broken sidewall belt in passenger rear tire and worn lower control arms.

Other than those the car runs nice, i'm very impressed. Nice amount of power...all electrical items work as they should.

Changed the engine oil and filter, the old oil was quite dark...doubt it was changed in the "last 2 months" as the ad stated.

Overall very happy !

Sounds like drama.

I just purchased mine, 2003 X Type, 106k miles on it, runs like a dream. Took it on our first trip, about 200 miles over a four day weekend, everything perfect.

no drama involved here, just a cheap car needing some work...04 sport for $6200...who can beat that?, maybe 3 hrs work to get it running A1 again....with 106k you'll be replacing your control arms soon too :+)
full set of brake pads $50
2x control arms $200
alignment $60

still sounds like a bargain for an almost mint condition jag (sport)
