first real storm of the season here... x-type SUCKS!
McJagur
I drove mine home on ice today. Cars were off the road, and cops were instructed only to be on the road when assisting emergencies. I have 3 new (put on this afternoon) tires and one spare (waiting for my replacement rim to come in). My alignments won't beaccomplished until the rim comes in and I figure out how to order the (shot) rear bushing that I found when changing the tires. With that said, I utilized the 2-3-4 gears and manually drove that beast home. While I was driving, my wife called me and she got stuck in her volvo wagon.
I've owned this Jagsince Friday and am very impressed after today.
With that said, there may be something wrong with your alignment - I'd take a good look at it.
Anyone got a diagram so I can find out which bushing I need to order? I need a good link to the JTIS manual...lol

Your tires must be in need of replacement. Mine has been in the snow a couple times and seems to stick pretty well. Just because you have tread does not mean you have good traction. Get 4 new michelins and report back!
when i put my stock new series continetals on my x its better in the snow than my mothers lexus truck ....these cars are award winning snow plows

That's great your car is performing more to your expectations, McJaguar. I understand how frustrating it is when you purchase something with a certain assumption and it fails to deliver. I'm glad your X is living up to their reputation. =)

Ohhhh boyyyyyy
I think the X was made for snow and cold weather; I am not just saying that Iam saying this from experience. I was running continental all seasons in the front and some sport tire or sumtin in the rear ( i did not notice this when I purchased the X this summer) and ill admit it did fish tail with that tire set up but once i got my Bridgestone Snow lions a DEDICATED snow tire she turned into a tank as "chris X' said up top. But dont get me wrong when you wanna have fun with her in the snow even with snow tires you can. I live up north really north in canada where it was -45 C with ice and 3 to 8 inches of snow and black ice and I can positivly say that the X kiks ***.

Mcjaguar,
I seriously had to re-read your name a few times. I thought your were a scammer bashing the x-type! I've never had such a great car in the winter. My tires were really really bad and the car was still great. I will say the abs sucks in comparison to other cars I've owned that had abs. Shoot a 94 bonneville I had was one of the cars I've owned with the best abs.
Dynamic stability control works great in the snow as well but in deep snow I always had to shut it off. My 2002 felt primarily rwd when flooring it from a stop with the dsc on. I'm glad you got it taken care of because I was thinking there had to have been something really wrong with the car.
