Default Foot well lights while driving

I have always wanted to find a way to keep the foot well lights on while I am driving. Does anyone know how I can do this?

why would u want to do this?

anyhow, im sure its possible but, it will be a real pain. mainly cause the lights are hooked up into the door switch and dome to activate when the door is opened or dome is put on.

I had a benz that did this and just added a nice atmosphere to the car. I thought it would be cool. If I could somehow have them connected to the same circuit as the headlights...

jvegas, this is actually pretty simple. What you will need to do is to find a double pole, double throw switch (ie, On-Off-On switch). Doesn't need to be rated for a lot of current (anything over 1 amp will be fine). Now, you will need to crawl under the dash and locate the black wire running to each light. From here, you will need to extend these wires to run them to where you are going to mount the switch on the dash. The wire running to the light you will mount to the center post. The other half of the wire you will mount on 1 end of the switch (make sure to put both of these wires on the same end of the switch). Next you will need to add a new wire running from the chassis ground to both of the empty terminals on the switch.

The footwell lights are grounded when you need them turned on. So, each end of the switch will be ground. Then all you do is flip the switch between the two On positions and in the one position they will act just like normal and the other way they will remain on. Since we are not messing with the power side of things, they will automatically turn off should you forget to flip the switch.

If you need more help, just hollar.

YES! I knew someone would help! Thanks. I have led's in all of my lights in and out. I think I might add a small red or amber led for the foot wells. If and when I do this i will have a write up in case anyone else wants to do the same. (and they will :-)
