Yes, although I'll be doing the work myself, i cant wait to share this mod with a mechanic friend of mine as when we was discussing the rear camber issue he took great pleasure in telling me there was nothing i could really do about it apart from replace everything in the rear and pray! Ha. All in banter of course nothing malicious.
He is an incredibly knowledgeable lad so its going to be nice to be able to stick my middle finger up at him haha.
Thats a sad way to loose a car man. There is just something very special about the x types isnt there. On paper it is one of the dullest cars ive ever owned and i only went to view one because ive liked the look of them for many years and i love the interiors of the jags but id never actually driven an X. It was at a great price in a preferred colour, dark blue, and had every single toy along with the cream leather.
I spent ages poking around and was shocked at the condition, in a good way, and as soon as i took it for a drive i knew it was coming home with me. Now i honestly cant see me ever not having a jag in some form and im spending a fair bit on this one right now including eeking some more power out of the 2.2 diesel lump so im hoping to have this car around for quite some time as yet.
what have you done other than a remap. And what gains did you get. I’m 197k miles strong but seeking a boost.
Can anybody help me to buy,Put me a link(s) for those Rear Upper Control Arms Adjustable for my Jaguar X,Estate 2004 here?
I prefer ship from U.S. but can be U.K. and e-bay is fine.
I am from Japan,
Thank you!
I bought some and even on the minimum length it's 1/2 a hole out to get the bolt in. I know the guy says cut the lock nut in half and cut down the length of the adjustable eye bolt. . . . BUT you still can't get that bolt in. You would need to cut down the actual Arm length and that would compromise the strength of the adjuster locking bolt (not the nut) I decided to sell mine and just re-bush my Jag arms.
I changed the bushes and the lower arms and had 4 wheel alignment and the Camber is in spec. My advice is re-bush.
I can re-bush them for free. . just send arms and bushes and I'll fit them. Otherwise, find someone who has a press and do it yourself or buy them a drink to do it for you . . . it's a 20min job max.
Hi Mike,
Thank you for send me a link.
Is that meaning,
1.Is that the parts not just bolt on? Need some works? Do I need to buy some extra parts like
2.When you say re bush,Is that meaning buy the new parts link and them I need re-bush??
3.Are you selling those and can do re-bush?
4.Is that bush Jaguar genuine? Could you please teach me genuine parts number(s) if so?
I am confusing and want to make sure I am trying to do correct.
Thank you for your time.
I bought the top arms in the ebay link and found that the modification would have weakened the area where the "Pinch Bolt" is so I decided to re-bush my arms. I re bushed my top arms and fitted new "Rear Front Lower Control Arms Part number C2S50863" (see picture) . . . I had the 4 Wheel Laser Alignment and adjustment and the Camber and Toe was within specification.
Peoples here in Japan,There are NO BODY can fix my rear negative camber problem and I been working very hard...
Can you send me all parts that I need to fix my Jaguar X rear negative camber matter??
It would be helpful if you can do for me re bush and send those all parts include bolts,e.t.c.??
As I can see you are true pro.
Please let me know your idea.
You simply take the weight off of the rear wheels, undo 2 bolts, remove the arm, install the new arm, install the 2 bolts. You will need to shorten the arm as much as practical, but that will fix the issue that you have. The actual work takes but maybe 30 minutes per side unless you have bolts that are rusted in place.
Thank you very much for your link.
It is seems they don't ship to Japan.
I will try and find out if I can find parts here in Japan too as I need to fix a.s.a.p.(e-bay too just in case)
Can anybody teach me how do I google and to know which one would be fit exact to my Jaguar x estate.Year 2004.
If I google,
For
04-17 Focus Escape
S40 C30
C-Max Mazda 3
Would it be correct parts??
Any year or other car name??
Jiro, the X-Type I found out shares a lot of components with other cars. For example, the front end of this car suspension wise is very close to a Ford Mondeo. The rear end of the car is very close to a Volvo S40. That is why you are able to use the Volvo S40 arms on your Jaguar. There are a lot of us that have used those arms for many years with no issues. I know it is hard to wrap your head around using a different model car to repairs yours, but you have to think about it this way, Volvo is owned by Ford and they will share parts across models routinely to save money. This is why, if you look at all the parts on your car, they will start with either 1X43 or 4x43. This is the way the Ford/Jaguar/Volvo/etc indicated that this part was ultimately meant to go on a Jaguar X-Type. The next 5 or 6 digits is the true part number. So, you can match up the middle numbers and find any other car that has those same numbers and that part should work. Kinda like on my current XJ, I can get parts from a Ford Mustang (has a similar 5.0L engine) and the parts will go between the two cars.
