Friggin rattles - I might be on to something

Got down to aggravated shaking and slapping around of the front suspension.. I decided the inner fender liner was contributing to the rattles.. so i took that off and the thing was partly better maybe half the noise was gone.. this was good news..
then I decided to put a socket on the subframe bolts and the rear one just broke off... rusted half way through.....
that is absolutely crazy.... now i am grounded.. Guess I have to fire up my other british car and go to the ******* tomorrow....

maybe I will end up keeping it... I do like the car in general... It certainly has a lot of toys and does well in the winter.
I just dont get why even Jag Canada refuses to answer calls...
One of my latest concerns is about the replacement hood they just put on at thedealer because of rust along the seam.
WHo has had this done?
the original hood (and all the body parts for that matter ) had a bead of seam sealer along the folded edge of steel. It is clearly evident under the paint. _ I think all cars have this since the last 20 years or so.
I worry that the replacement hood is a cheap jobber part that will rust even faster. I needs to have that seam sealer to stop water from getting into the folds of metal. The new hood is just painted over the folded steel and there is no seam sealer anywhere..
the dealer just shrugs, pisses me off becauuse I know that there is a problem here.

You know what the real problem is Bo, it's that you're just so much smarter than the dealer, that they can only nod when you speak because that way they LOOK like they understand! I'm serious, it's like speaking to my dog!
Yeah nice biggie, hey bo isnt' the warranty from the car rusting for 5 years? Isn't the rust warranty just for rust through and not if rust is there. On my lip that is at the edge of the front fender on the hood where you cant see has rust...if that keeps spreading this hood is going to look like crap any idears?

like my wheel bearing story... they flatly refuse
as to why? I have no clue... If my kids were to treat people the way jag treats me I would slap their asses and put them in their room with no dinner. It is absolutely awful.

Sorry to hear that bo...have you tried a different dealer??? Are you mean to them when you go in??? I was a kid going into the two ones here in michigan and they were all cool to me which being young NEVER happens. From the salemen to the service to everybody even the rich people that were in there....everybody was alot nicer than I ever would have thought!

I learned a long time ago that the most important thing after you buy the car..........is to get the service dept onside asap.
When I go in I make a note of the service reps names and keep a note of them for future reference......When I call up its John this or David that ( you know, the personal touch, like they are actually human beings)
I usually get to know them and make conversation too..........If I'm in around the holidays, mabe a cheap bottle of wine or tin of cadburys roses...............cost maybe £10?
You would be absolutely amazed at the stuff I get done for free......the times a cortesey car miracously appears when there were none available.........parts n service under warranty when strictly speaking the warranty was up etc etc etc.
Also..............because you've made a point of being soo nice, on the rare times you do get pissed off and complain / blow a gasket.........they really seem to listen.
Fair enough, travelling the miles I do I'm in more that the average driver, but, I've been going this was now for 15 years..........you gotta believe me..........It works a treat!
You guys should try it. After all...........everybody else complains constantly and or is pissed off and shouts etc etc...........be different to them and they'll be different to you.
JC
That doesn't always work though Jim. The dealer that my sister bought her car at the guys in the service are a-holes no matter how nice you are. I'm the kind of person that is really respectful and what not yes sir no sir kind of stuff but you treat me like I'm some punk kid I tend not to like it...

I know how you feel mate cos I dont like that **** either, but , lets face it..........they have you by the bal*s right from the get go. If they want, they can have your car sitting outside in the lot from 8am till 12 noon and nothing been done on it at all.............**** them off and maybe its 2 or 3 pm.........lol
Its without doubt the worst part of car ownership............a visit to THEM!............lol
JC
Yeah thats why you treat them good but no matter how you treat the guys that don't actually work on your car they don't care your just another number...don't get me wrong at all of the jag dealers I never had a bad experience (knock-on-wood!) I'd expect attitude from the jag dealer but not a chevrolet dealer its a freakin' chevy!
Well, I've only had to go there twice, and both times they've been extremely courteous, but they didn't really solve my problem! I don't have warranty, but they helped me for free! They didn't solve the problem, but it was free, so what can I say! There isn't anything that would make me go back. What am I to say? You did a free job but you didn't do it right so fix it? There isn't an Italian there either.
Oh I have many problems with the car but the dealer when I did take it there was pretty surprisingly nice! I actually got a Christmas card from the Troy,MI jag dealer!
