Fuel Door Spring
About a year ago, a service station attendant opened my fuel door and then walked through the door…..it snapped off. In NJ it is 'illegal' to pump one's own gas. The gas station agreed to take care of the repair if I provided a quote. I wish I had a camera when I showed them the quote. The attendants don't get paid all that much, so I agreed on reimbursement on gas. It took a while. But wouldn't you know, the price of gas was much higher.
Well, a year later, the spring is not functioning as designed. Anyone have a picture of what the spring is suppose to look like? Is it hard to replace? Dealer only item?
Thoughts? Thanx in advance.

I just called a Jag Dealer and learned the striker part number is:
C2S 14632 and goes for $7.20 or $5.62 with the Internet discount.
Does that sound right?

Got new striker plate for the gas door. I had a lot more bending to do to correct the existing strike plate. Works fine now. I found the procedure in the Exterior section of the Jaguar X-Type maint manual. Looks like something do on a warmer day.
