Fuel pressure regulator hose - ok to tape up?
So I finally found my vacuum leak on my '05 Xtype. The fuel regulator hose had broken in half and was brittle as heck (the regulator hose goes from the intake to the fuel pressure regulator sensor). I ordered a new hose, but while I wait, should I just put some electricians tape over the outlet nub on the fuel pressure regulator sensor and some tape over the nub on the intake manifold or does that present some kind of fire hazard?

I would personally just dip it in epoxy. I had a vacuum leak on my brake booster hose and before ordering the new part, I just smothered it in epoxy. Does it look pretty? No. Does it work? yes. Also I saved some cash and to this day I haven't replaced that part because it works just like any new one will.

Tim, cut off a small piece, take it to the local auto parts store and see if they have any vacuum line that you can get that is the same inside diameter. From there, you can replace the vacuum line and get by till the factory piece comes in. Granted, really don't need the factory piece with the replacement hose.
I bet you are getting some rich codes on the computer too. With that line broke, your fuel pressure regulator is sending too much pressure to the fuel injectors, which is causing them to admit too much fuel to the motor. So, after this replacement, you should see your mileage come back up a little bit.
