Fuel supply cutting out
I have a 2002 X-Type 3.0 with 95k miles. The fuel supply has been cutting off for some reason. Car stops and I am able to get started again by resetting the inertia switch. I thought it was a bad inertia switch so I bypassed it but it happened again which tells me it's not a faulty inertia switch. I've replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuse is good. Any ideas on what to check next. It's difficult to pinpoint since it happens intermitently. I'm thinking ECU or fuel pump.
Thanks,
Pat

My first X-Type was a 2002, and the fuel pump failed on it TWICE! I changed the injectors, plugs and added a fuel system cleaner additive, consequently had no problems after that.
I realize, however,my amalgamated elucidations do not narrow down a PRECISE solution, but I wanted to at least post something that worked for me after much troubleshooting.... perhaps start with the fuel system additive and clean out the lines and injectors...it's cheap and easy to do

Did you replace the fuel fitler? When you sit the dirt will fall to the bottom of the filter, then you can run for awhile them the dirt gets mixed up and the filter gets clogged again. Just a though for you to think about, you never know what you get coming out of the pump.
