The little gas lever is not opening the gas cap door. Any remedies? Sorry i don't know the proper terms.

 

Hey, this happened to me about 6 months back, I ran over to the mechanic, and he wedged it open.I can remember if he used a thick piece of paper, or one of his keys or something, but he had me keep pulling the tab and the same time he tried to pry it....but what happened is that there are 2 silver coils/springs that push open the door when the lever is pulled, so once he got it open, he just reshaped/unbent it. it looked really easy to do, he did it in 30 seconds with his fingers without taking anything off. You have to be careful when closing the door and putting in the gas pump bc it catches on those springs. If you can get the door open just bend the coils back. Hopefully that helped a little.
