Default Grinding noise lasting a second after start

I have an ‘04 x-type with the 3.0. The car starts fine, but after it’s started, I get a grinding sound that sounds and feels more like a loud vibration. The sound lasts a second. I have had it happen immediately at start, go away, come back 10 seconds later then entirely disappear.

The best way way to describe the sound is that it is akin to the sound a drill makes when you hit a torque stop.

The sound only only happens from a cold start, lasts a second, and seems to happen 5-15 seconds after the car starts. Afterwards, it doesn’t happen again.

Everything works fine, it’s just an odd noise. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Elhajj33.

Could this be a starter motor solenoid problem perhaps ???

I'm guessing starter motor. Specifically armature bushings
