head unit touchscreen, aircon, etc
I have a 2001 x-type 3.0 with full touchscreen sat nav.
The touchscreen has gonecompletely blank, and none of the other controls on the head unit are working. The air-con seems to have gone into a default mode (de-mist) and I have no control of the fan or temperature, the clock has gone off, and the internal temp shows 51 degrees. The radio works, but due to thetouchscreen not working, the control is limited to the analogue switches and knobs only.
All this stuff worked perfectly yesterday. I checked the head unit fuses behind the glove box (right hand drive car). What has happened!![&o]

RE: head unit touchscreen, aircon, etc
since my last post, i have found out loads about this problem, and have caused irrepairable damage to my cd changer in the process.
The cd changer was my fault. i kept loading and ejecting till the thing jammed. so i took it to bits and broke it. Anyway thats not the cause of the problem.
There is a sequence of buttons which can be pressed when the ignition is on.
sequence is Nav and temp up, nav and temp up. nav and temp up, then audio, audio, audio.
This may need doing once or twice before you get it right.
The screen should now come on.
A diagnostic menu will appear.
You should follow the on screen instructions to prove that the software buttons (onscreen) are still working, and that the hardware buttons are still working.
If all this works, it is more than likely a firmware problem, which (assuming you have reloaded the nav cd a few times) can be reprogrammed by a dealer.
Now no need to pay for all the expensive dealer diagnostics, or to rip out the head unit. if you can demonstrate this level of knowledge to the dealer, it should be significantly cheaper.
If any one knows how to re set the firmware from the onscreen diagnostics, please let me know.
It must be possible.

RE: head unit touchscreen, aircon, etc
Come on guys, someone out there must know what the next step is. Does anyone know how to reset the Firmware? I still have no aircon controls or nav screen etc. All I know is that the head unit (screen console) is not at fault.
By the way has anyone got a 6cd changer unit for sale?
