Headlight adjustment
Hi,
I have a 2004 3.0L V6 Estate which is LHD (I live in France), the car is on UK plates where I bought it last month. I want to register it here in France and need the equivalent of an MOT. I have read somewhere that there is a lever on the headlights which will change the dip to European settings. I would like to try this first before going to the expense of buying LHD light units which are not cheap even second hand! Could someone please provide a diagram and possibly a photograph of the lever?
I am sure I saw a thread on this forum but cannot find it now!!
I would be grateful for any information and help.
Regards

Matthew, pull out your owners manual (if you need a copy, let me know) and look on page 4-20. That will have the step by step instructions on what you need to do. In short, you need to pull off the back cover of the headlights and inside you will find a silver lever that can be flipped to change it from UK to Euro Spec.
Of note, you may find that getting your hand in there may be a bit difficult. Also, you need to be careful with the internals of the headlights as we have found that over time the plastic has become brittle and if pushed too hard, will break. So, you may find that pulling off the bumper cover may be a good step to take. It isn't hard to, but will probably add an hour or so to the job (if you need more assistance with this, let me know).

Hi Thermo,
Thanks for the reply. My local garage had a look this morning and at some time one headlight has been damaged much as you say. I am now resigned to buying new headlights and having them fitted and adjusted properly for the French Controlle Technique. Before I do that perhaps you could send me the relevant pages please by pm if necessary.
