Question Headlight Washer Cover

Hi Everyone,

I took my Jag to the shop to repair rust on my hood. The mechanic noticed I was missing a headlight washer cover.

I didn't even know I had headlight washers...lol

How do I activate the headlight washer? Also, can I buy the cover separately (the Dealers wants me to install a whole new headlight washer because they do not sell the cover separately).?

Thanks,
D

I had a simlar issue, and no u can't buy it seperate, u have to purchase the jet, its quite expnensive once you see how insignificant the part is, a common problem in the northern regions becuase ice builds up, and when the jets are activated they push and break the ice and the holds ont he jet.. And all u do to activate them is press the button on the end of the windshield washer control lever. How much was it to repair the rust ont he hood. And ur looking at about 124/130 depending on where u are, im in canada so yeah

Thanks for your post.

The hood is being repaired for $300. I know of a good body shop just outside of London Ontario.

Apparently the headlight washers do not work according to the auto body mechanic.

Cheers,
D

yeah, theres a issue with them in the random cars, my one works, the one that was replaced, but the other doesn't, im still working out the kins, and ill let u know more about it, one way to chec is follow the lines from the wasjer fliud reservoir to the jets, and check for damages to the line, another is to see if its clogged, or has been dsiabled, and finally a pressure problem. 300 buck s dosne't sound bad, im in alberta so the winters beat the cars pretty bad.

We had to replace a headlight washer cover to get the plastic clip it is held on with at our bodyshop last month.Dealer quoted £8.50 for the cover which they said had to be ordered to get the clip so we ordered it.
It arrived costing £31 with the washer jet attached!
After complaining we were refunded the difference.
