Default Heat Shields

As I was locating and eradicating annoying rattles from the car that I've nicknamed the "if aint one thing it's 2" I had to remove the heat-shields from around the gas tank...now the exhaust is somewhat close to the gas tank and I'm wondering if I should be doing something offer the fuel tank better insulation from the exhaust pipe or is this something not to fret about? Thanks

zoolander, I would recommend putting some form for heat shield there. WHile not having anything there is probably fine, I would hate to see something go awry.

Go to a hot rod supply store, there is a 3M product that is peel and stick. It effectively reflects the heat back and since it's stuck on the gas tank won't rattle, but you do need something. Even it it doesn't explode, who wants to run hot gas?
