Default hello to everyone i,m new to your great club

i have bought my first jaguar about 6 months ago and i adore her,she,s a stunning jag to drive and looks great,but its stiff to get into 1st gear when cold(it goes in with a push) and then it goes into every gear all day with ease,can you advice because i love my jaguar (x type 2002 2000cc 104.000)many thanks

jagman, keep in mind that 1st gear is not sychronized. So, putting it into gear may be a little difficult if the car is not moving. You can do a fluid change, but that will be just to make sure that everything is getting good fluid. I don't think that you are really going to see any change. You can prove what I am saying by starting the car and then with the driver's door open, use your foot to roll the car a little bit (or park on a slight downhill). Then, once the car is moving just a little bit, try putting it in gear. I bet you will find that it will go in with ease then.

I have a 2003 with manual trans, bought with 26k, now has about 97k. It's the same way, only happens occasionally and has never gotten any worse. I just release and depress the clutch a bit and it will slip right in.

Hello Jagman from Wales ( North or South ?? ) my mam was Cardiff & I used to work in Harlech . I have 2.5 4x4 manual , maybe a different gearbox to 2,0 ...are you petrol or diesel ?? Anyway ...welcome !!
