Default HELP!!! 2003 X-Type 2.5L Electrical Problem

When the headlights are on and you use either turn signal, both blinkers (hazards) start blinking. No problem with turn signals while headlights are off. A daytime running light is out. Also cruise doesn't work whether headlights are on or not. Autozone coded it as brake switch but I've been told electrical problems can throw up wrong codes. Anyone ever had and solved this problem?

Welcome to the forums Teresa,

I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum to X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.

Teresa, I bet you have just recently needed to replace a light bulb in the back of your car. If this is the case, the bulb that you put in did not get seated properly and it is shorting between 2 circuits (turn signals and most likely your running lights). This will cause your lights to act funny.

If this is not the case, then let me know and we can trace out things going a few basic things.

The repair manual shows the taillight assembly has the bulbs soldered into it

This is untrue. The bulbs are perfectly normal replaceable bulbs, not LEDs.

I replaced every single interior and exterior bulb with LED's with the exception of the blinkers as to do that you have to put a modifying module in to prevent heart attack blinking (lol).
They all take normal bulbs and if you choose to go LED as I did there is a crossover bulb number on several sites to match factory bulb bases. The main reason I did this was to drastically reduce the electrical load on the car. I also replaced my headlights with HID's, but left the high beams as halogen.

Jcobb5109, please keep in mind that your rear bulbs are mounted to a common back plane. So, yes, the wires are soldered to a point, but this point is also electrically connected to a bulb base that a standard twist type bulb gets inserted into. So, there is some truth, but not to the extent that you took it.
