Help! 2003 x type tranny kicking
Hello and thanks for stopping by. I changed out the transmission coolant with a used one from the junk yard. After it was installed I put in a quart of tranny fluid to make up for what drained from the lines and old coolant. When I went for test run car kicked when going into 2nd gear got trans fault then limp mode. What went wrong? Can anyone (Thermo) help me out. Thanks

I had a tranny fail on me because the transmission cooler was clogged. I used Kooler Kleen to get all the old crap out of it. What it seems to me is that you don't have enough fluid in the transmission or your cooler is clogged and you cannot get enough fluid back into the transmission. Either way, I would check the transmission fluid level (do yourself a favor and download the JTIS from this forum it will make everything a hell of a lot easier) and then go from there. I would assume that you don't have enough fluid in the tranny as these trannys are very specific about their fluid level and they won't run right unless you get very close to the right amount of fluid. Also if you have any CEL's coming on, I would get them checked out (android torque app and ELM327 bluetooth adapter for $25.)
