i was just sitting in a parking lot waiting for a space, and my 2004 x-type with 86k made a clunking noise, and started squealing. the powertrain failure light and the dynamic stability control light came one. i managed to get the car into another space, but it was extremely slow to move and very unresponsive. the car will go in and out of gear, but it shifts very hard, lurches, and makes a loud clunking noise

i have a pretty sneaking suspension i know what the issue is, but im hoping somebody else has an answer less terrible thant what im thinking

ive now owned this car a little over 3 months and have already dumped about $2500 into it. should i cut my losses here?

If you could do us a favour and have the codes read and post them here that way we will have a better understanding of what the car needs.
hopefully its just you are low on transmission fluid.
