Help with sunroof please
Whas up guys. It was finally a little warm yesterday. So I opened my sunroof for the first time since before winter started. So what’s happening is the sunroof front button to open it in the vent position works fine to open and close. When I press the back button to fully open the sunroof it dips down to slide back but then stops. Seems like something is catching. If I hit the back button again. It opens normally. And closes normally. Also if I pull down on the sunshade/ headliner a little. It seems to open easier. I’ll try to take a short video later to show you. Any help is greatly appreciated
Same thing happened to me last week when it hit 65 degrees and I tried to open the sunroof. I managed to fully open it by pressing the button for a second or so at a time. I think this is tripped by too much current which is the way the sunroof motor senses and protects from crushing fingers and hands. Once I had it fully open I cleaned the tracks with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush. Wiped it down with an alcohol swab to get rid of soap residue, then I sprayed the tracks with silicone grease. The first couple of attempts to open and close didn't work but after that the grease was spread around to the area that was catching and it has worked fine since then.
