HELP X-Type OBD Codes and Diagnosis MAF?
So I tripped my first check engine light on Thursday. I took the vehicle in to check the OBD codes at a local parts store. Below is the reading...
P0171 running lean bank 1
P0174 running lean bank 2
P1111 mfg air metering control
Now to the best of my understanding the issues that could throw these codes are faulty O2 sensors or a faulty MAF sensor. I assumed that due to both O2's reading faults that it may be an issue with the MAF. I ordered the MAF today and I'm hoping that fixes it.
Now I'm not a mechanic and this is the first real issue I have had with my X type. I just turned 85K miles on it.
The P1111 is a system pass code? I dont understand? Also does anyone else have a diagnosis for these codes or some helpful advice? I'm hoping Im doing the right thing by ordering the mass air flow sensor as its before both 02 sensors and I figure that could be the reason for the fault codes. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

RE: HELP X-Type OBD Codes and Diagnosis MAF?
Imt seals - To test, with engine idling, spray some throttle cleaner or brake clean between valve and intake. If idle changes, replace seals.
PCV breather hose : If it is this design, replace it. New one looks all ribbed.....commonly referred to as ***** hose.
There is also a plastic pipe from brake booster to intake manifold. I don't have a picture, but there is a grey valve in the middle. Spray that also with brake clean and see if it changes the idle also.

Agree. Don't do anything with MAF until you check the three following items for splits/leaks (hissing sound of vacuum leak):
#1 - PCV Hose, About 8" long top of driver's side of intake. Check for a split in the bottom of the hose.
#2 - The Brake boost vacuum hose located rear of intake running to the brake booster. Check the brake boost check valve for deterioration on the bottom. (it's the buldging piece in the middle of the hose)
#3 - The IMT valve o-rings. Two large circular on passenger side of intake.
Best thing you can do is have your mecahnic run a smoke test of the intake. It will reveal your vacuum leak(s), and if it's one or more of these, they are relatively cheap and easy to fix.
