Default Hey newbie here with some questions

Hey im a 2003 x-type owner having some issues...so basically the car will not hold alignment and the camber is off and the top of the tire leans in and when you jack it up you can pull the top of the front tires in and out with about two inches of flex in each direction. it goes through tires like crazy so i want to fix the problem and get it so it will hold alignment and not scare me every time i drive it. a friend told me it was the tie rods but i want opinions from the people who know best. thanks.

Shires, I am assuming you are talking about the front tires (since you mention your friend is saying it is the tie rods). Because you can move the top of the tires in and out, it is not the tie rod ends. You are looking at most likely bad struts. Granted, who is aligning your car. They should have caught that your struts are toast. If the struts are not gone, then you have a problem with the front wheel bearings.

The best advice that I can give you is to lift the front tires off of the ground. Now, with the aide of someone else, have 1 person move the tire as the other person looks underneath to see where the movement is coming from. Where you see movement, that item is bad. There's only just so many things that it can be.

If you are wanting a second look, how close to Richmond are you? I am looking to get a bunch of us together in Richmond for a Jag only car show (18th of Sept). I can bring a jack and help diagnose the car for you. Your call.
