are there any problems with these kits regarding frying your wiring? also when you install these kits do you have to install and inline fuse in case of a surge of power?

I heard mydepots is a good place to get hids. I was going to get the slim line, for tighter cars. Its not that expensive and seems like a fun and easy mod. Can somone post the high and what not how to allign the bulbs? Making sure they are level and what not.

Thanks!

Jim, with our cars, because the headlights/fog lights are powered via a relay, you can wire up the HIDs to the factory wiring with no issues. Other brands, this is not the case and can lead to long term reliability (yes, it will work initially, but you are overloading switches and whatnot without the addition of a relay). As for an inline relay, the factory wiring already has the relay in there for you. So, no need to add a fuse either.

I decided to get the 6000k. The my depots is pretty cheap in price, go to the uk forums and read there too. I know later today ill have my own thread or be searching around for a tutorial on how to install the hids.

Is it possible you can post a link? I looked around, Also the balasts u need to connect directly to the battery right? Also do you tap into the factory existing harness on both sides or just one? I was reading somewhere you only do one. Please let me know because i should be getting my kit in an hour and i want to install right away ;-)

gupdah, as long as you are wiring the HIDs to your factory headlights in your Jag, you can wire them directly to the factory wiring with no problem. With Fords, Chevy's, etc, you can not do this as they wire the headlights directly to the switch.

If you need more info, let me know. I will see if I can find my write up for the foglights. The headlights are going to be very similar.

Guys I installed on side and now I am doing the battery side. I remevoes the battery and as I was taking out the holder there was a hollow pipe that was under it and came loose from somewhere I guess. Where does it go? I am scared to start my car bow. It's very thin, like a pencil. Where does it go. Please respond asap.

Gupdah, that pencil thin tube connects to the battery to divert the fumes built up by the battery. You should have a small plastic elbow( same thickness) on either side of the battery to connect it to.

I got them from a person on craigslist, he sells them and i think he owns a dealership or something. Look on craigslist for your area and search HID kits or something. Check my thread out i posted some pictures. If i was you, and there was no local seller, id go to mydepots. I have heard good things about them.
