Default hood on my x type won't close

Hello everyone, well I had my 02 x type parked for a couple of months and when I went to start it it had problems it didint hv before. The battery died and the hood won't close. I bought a new battery but now I can't get the hood to shut closed. Does anyone know what part I need to replace? ?

If the car has stood for quite a while it may be that the locking mechanism is slightly seized. Try a good squirt of WD40 and then exercising the lock/unlock. You will need someone to help, just to let you know what is happening.

Hope this helps.

Since you make it sound that the hood didn't close after you changed your battery I am going to go ahead and say:

Make sure you have the right battery!!!

Assuming you didn't make this mistake, you need to make sure the hook on your hood is aligning with the latch on you car. Also compare it with the other side and make sure is not bent or anything, sometimes you can bend it back in place. Try to notice if is one side that won't catch, both sides, etc. Before replacing any parts we have to try and figure what's happening.

Best of luck!!!

Battery box cover sticking up to high, the hood level adjusters on the side are up to high, foreign object stuck or malfuntioning latch mech.

The battery for the X-Type is under the bonnet, to the right.

Mine does same thing...I have a small flat screwdriver and use it to move spring back. I think it gets stuck with weather and junk.
