How do I add a six disc changer

My 2002 X-Type 3.0 has a cassette player and a button on the radio display for CD but no CD changer. Can I just buy the disc changer, mount it, plug it in and have CD's or is there something else involved?

I think the dealer has to program the changer to the stereo.
