That is a bunch of cool *** videos! There is another one by the same dude! Pretty awesome cideo, but I see what your saying. In the clip there was a long period of time where the front wheels were spinning and the rears were locked - that cant be good... Unless the car is smart enought to allocate full power to the front wheels! Great videos though!

No, car is not smart, actually a flaw in the system. Not sure why or how, and only once in a while....mine was good for spinning the rear and not the front. Used to do donuts in front of house, and people would say, you have a AWD car, how you do that???

Hell i don't know!! lol

There is a black scoop under you oil pan that scoops up air and diverts it to the transfer case. it keeps it from over heating.

Most of the time in snow, it gets ripped off and nobody is any wiser till your gear box takes a dump!

Look under you car, directly under the oil drain plug you should see this black scoop. If you don't see it, better go and get one 45 bucks at your local Jag dealer.

IIRC that owner is a member here. The guy posted his video link sometime last year, and if memory serves me correct, he did end up having to replace the tranny.

Cool video to watch, especially since it is not at my expense.

That video really shows how delicate the X really is. I dont know how hard he was beating on the car to cause all of those problems - but I am sure Jaguar had to have put the car thru some vigorous tests and found out about its weaknesses - no? There is another video out there too - looks really cool and the X seems unstoppable in the snow - big expense to pay over some donouts...

Any/every car has a weakness, especially, when you're spinning your wheels (all four) no less in snow. You don't need jaguar to do test to prove something will break doing that sort of abuse.

Spinning your wheels at high RPMs' like that and not allowing the fluid to cool is just asking for trouble.

The difference between doing a burn out, say at a light, is that when you floor it, the the tires might squeal a bit, but once your moving, air is now cooling the fluid. the fluid in that tranny in the video must have reached boiling point. Which is instant death TO ANY TRANS.

I don't think using that video is a good example to say that the tranny is a weak link in the car because the guy was an idiot.

Do that to any car, and i'll bet a weeks worths of booze that it'll fry any tranny.

Yeah I hear ya, but I was a kid too once and have done that many of times lol!Never have I brought the car home with damage. But I never kept the cars throttle floored like that - I dont even like to put the thottle all the way down once in while either. I guess thats why they call it beating on the car right?

I doubt there is pic...unless someone wants to crawl under their car for a snapshot.

Call jag and order it, it's a critical piece in keeping the gear box cool. should be around 45 bucks! IMO is too damn expensive for a plastic piece...but hey, it's a jag and we won't settle for anything less!
