Also thinking about a 2008 S-Type but worried about winter snow driving in an S-Type. Seems like many here are keeping the X after the 100,000 mark, and that is encouraging. My dealer also says that of all Jaguars they see more X-Types with over 100K miles than any other model and wish Mr Tata would bring a new X-Type replacement to the USA because the smaller AWD car is still so popular.

Well, I just got my XK8 with 86,000 miles on it. So far I have replaced one O2 sensor and both knock sensors. My main concern is to get it through smog here in California. Then there is the "convertible top not latched" message. And the "ASC not available". And it seems that almost all of the plastic pieces are broken or missing or loose. I have ordered a replacement for the drivers door panel that is flopping loose, making it hard to open the door. And the gas cap cover won't open with the switch, I use the release in the trunk. Both power seats were inoperable. I repaired that with some replacement modules. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I thought I was buying a fun exotic ride and I got a major project. But, I will sort it out. Hopefully when I am done I will have a fun ride that I can be proud of.

Bought my 2003 X-Type 2.5 on new years day, Jan 1, 2013. Ten years old and only had 21,000 miles on it. It just rolled over to 22,000 miles today. All it needs is fresh tires. Hope to get at least another hundred K out of it.

Default 2006 X type Transfer Case Shot

77K miles and a blown transfer case. I drive it like an old lady too. Guess the transfer case is an ongoing problem. Bearings destroyed grenade style. Not rebuildable. Comments or suggestions?

2007 Sportwagon/Estate 91K miles. Strange grinding sound especially when coasting but gears shift smoothly when accelerating. Taking her in for a look - no idiot lights either. Ticking sound when stopped in gear but goes away in neutral. This can't add up to anything good. Wish me luck. Otherwise she's a fun ride.

My '02 3.0L without the Sport package is at 138,300. Just got it this week. Engine and transmission seem fine, but I think it needs new struts and shocks...rides pretty poorly over bumps and potholes.

My 2007 X Type2.0 Diesel had 46,000 miles on it in 2010 it now has 80,000 miles on it lots done to it though new rear shocks, rear anti roll bar bushes and links, new air con compressor, new auto dim rear mirror a host of engine belts, work done on the egr hose, new external temp sensor and new rear breaks and 3 sets of tyres! Ill be putting in a new windscreen soon and I reckon the front bushes/shocks will need work soon!
My Car was an ex fleet car and lots of the work carried out was done by the garage I purchased it from thank goodness!
