how many miles on your Xtype?
Hey Quepid... since you called others babies... thought you may want to know... I also have a 02 xtype... now with 283,050 miles... still running strong, drive it daily, original engine, tranny, etc... no major work. Simply ... regular maintenance.... and still purrs like a baby jag. Cant wait to get it to 300K miles...
2003 2.5 x type with 120k Now that i got alot of the bugs out from the last owner I am happy to say she has found her purrrrrrrr once more. Love this car. Cant wait to take it for a road trip.
03 2.5 X type 154,000 , got with 32k in 08,valve cover gasket set,upper/lower o rings, plugs, thermostat and upper radiator pipe, 1 set rims,4 sets tires, 2 sets brakes FR/1 RR, I run 100% 5w30 full synthetic oil w/ Bosh filters,97 octane no additives, do the work myself.
I have xj 8 and other than replacing a fuel pump have no trouble make sure to change timing chain tenisioners at 80000 miles and engine should last a long time I have had all my jags last up to 300000 miles with little problems as long as you change oil and take care of normal maintance
My '08 X-Type 3.0, imported from States (think Florida) by Jag dealer here. Canadianised and I am the 1st owner. Bought with 77K km, now standing at 83K km after 2 years.
Running beautifully like new! I keep it winterised during the winters here.
Drove it in the 1st winter (mild one though), and I just loved the handling on the snow.

2004, 3.0 auto with 144,400. Just bought it with 143,000. Took it from St Louis to Indy and back. Flawless, 25mpg. Looks like local Jag dealer serviced. Only items lacking/needing attention were PCV and fuel filter. I love this car. I'm the second owner.
