how many miles on your Xtype?
His name is Yvon, and he's in Canada. Write him, getting another price will never hurt, maybe you'll get a better price.
I use my x type as a taxi 2006 covered 135,000 miles had clutch replaced on 125,000 miles good motoring until last wk, when batt light came on no one seems to know why stil in shop waiting for solution prob gonna be expensive
I bought my 2002 X-type 2.5L automatic last year (2010) with just under 30,000 miles. It now has about 34,500. So far I have changed the battery, OAT sensor, transmission fluid, IMT o-rings, PCV hose, brake booster valve, and both headlight assemblies.
Mine is a 2003 2.5 with 100197 miles on it.
Only problems I've had is that the compressor clutch in the A/C went out at about 65K and was replaced under warranty. Yesterday the 2/2 O2 sensor went bad, and I've replaced that. Other than that, seems to be very reliable and holding up well.

2002 X Type Sport 3.0 84,000 miles....just purchased it last month - immaculate records from past owner and nothing reported that needed to be replaced or repaired. Hoping that streak continues!
I bought my 2002 X-type 2.5 manual new, delivered in December 2001. The whole family drove the car, (my 2 daughters learned to drive a stick on it), and it went everywhere from the U. P. of Michigan to Key West. We would still be driving it if some hillbilly f***tard woman hadn't rear ended my daughter in it last summer. It had 170,000 miles when totaled, and still had the original alternater, brake rotors, complete exhaust system, and clutch. The major issues were the driveshaft, one rear brake hub (ABS sensor rusted and fell off), air conditioner compressor, and the intake manifold had to be resealed. I had to replace the starter motor at about 120,000, the water pump at 160,000. At the time of its demise it had a slow leak from the oil pan gasket. Overall, about average maintenance requirements. The best thing about the X type is the bad weather performance. There is no car on earth I would rather drive in the snow.
I have a little over 25000 miles on mine. So far I had to do the brakes and swaybar front and rear bushings and the previous owner had 4 new Conti Pro Contacts on the 17inch rims when I bought the car. It had 23046 miles when I bought it.
'02 X-Type with 128,000. Whoa that sounds like a lot compared to others here! Oh well, can't complain, the Jag has been knock on wood so far. I've been pleasantly surprised by its reliability.
2003 2.5 5 speed manual. Just like aCapiz, my baby has been amazingly reliable. I have not had to replace a single part in the 6 years i've owned it. 107,5xx miles right now. Regular synthetic oil changes, did tune up at 70k, replaced fuel filter, plugs etc. replaced manual trans gear oil last week, no problems yet. Its been an amazing car.
Mines a 2002, 3 litre auto and done 73,000 mls, I think i've done around 14,000 in it in 2 1/2 years. Ultra reliable and apart from service items and brake pads, the only things I've had to replace are 2 lambda sensors.
