How to remove rear door lock from door (X-Type)
One rear door lock works manually, but never with the autolock mechanism.
It's a 2002 X-Type.
The other 3 doors autolock & auto-unlock properly.
I removed the interior door panel and confirmed it's not an electrical problem:
+ One plug with 3 wires supplies voltage to 2 wires to lock & unlock.
+ Other plug with 2 wires turns on the "Rear Passenger Door Open" on the dash when I unplug it (and message turns off when I plug it back in.)
I conclude the actuator mechanism is broken or jammed.
Here's where I need help: How do I remove the lock & actuator mechanism from inside the door? I removed the 3 Torx screws mounting it on the door, but it seems to be suspended by a linkage attached inside the door above it, under the small non-operable window.
Any suggestions, other than take it to the dealer? (I'm trying to save my Christmas fund for presents instead of dealer repairs!)
Thanks.

on my truck i had the lock jammed. i had to remove the door pannel, latch on the door and then the exteriour door handle to unclip that linkage you are talking about. then to pull it out i had to wiggle it all different ways and loosen the window track so it could fit through and out.
hope this helps, i know its a different car but it would probably be a similar process.
