Well I'm hoping that when they "switch" your engine one works and the other will be used as dead weight for a boat anchor?

If they didn't switch your engine...they my just use your Jag as the anchor....

if your car is being repaired by a dealer, they will do whatever necessary to fix the car sufficiently. so that its done right, and won't come back for the same problem. if you have a 3.0, then a 3.0 will go back in if the engine has to be swapped out. to put a 2.5 in would mean changing the pcm, exhaust system to the catalysts, engine mounts, cooling system, and some of the front engine accessories. any shop should inform you of whether the parts are new, used, or rebuilt. i haven't had to find the engine number on a jag, so i can't tell you where to look, we don't worry about the engine number when doing pre delivery inspection.

I just don't think that any reputable dealer would risk it period!

My god Bonelee............thats gotta be **** poor service of the highest order...........either that or inadequacy of monolithic proportions.
I'd be about at the end of my tether after maybe 2 weeks or so, so I can only imagine how you're feeling.
