Default "I didn't know my Jag did that!" thread

I would like to start a fun thread on secrets or functions that our x-types have that few might be aware of, especially with the radio or other electronics.
For instance, holding down the trip button while starting the car puts the dash in diagnosics mode.
I had no idea about that till two weeks ago and I've owned the car for two years!
I often wonder what other secret functions or not-to-well known factoids people can come up with.

1 2 3 go!

I didn't know that I could drive it 80,000 miles without it breaking down.

If you hold the lock button on the keyfob with your windows down, it will lock the car and roll the windows up 8)

I think this was only on the 03 or 04+ models though, not completely sure. Or if you just turn the key while it's in the door to make it lock, and hold it for 2 seconds it will roll them up.

Mine apparently doesn't do this, and it's an 05. That stinks cause it probably looks really cool.

I'm still trying to figure out why we have "rear foglights".

So that poor drivers are less likely to auger into your rear when you slow down in fog.

Both of you guys are out of luck, mine does it o.O Well I know that the US cars don't do it from the wireless key. But if you turn them to the lock on your door and just hold them for a second, they all roll up. Mine does it I'll take a vid sometime to show you all.

You can do it with the S Types from 03 on but it has to be programmed at the dealer, is the X the same?

For the key hole in the door I don't think it has to be programmed, however for the wireless key fob I believe it does. It was mainly a feature in England, however whenever they made the US cars they disabled it. But you can go to a jag dealer and have them program it if you really want to.

That's what I meant, only the fob function needs to be activated.

My keyhole works, but for whatever reason it only closes the windows. It would have been more important if they windows all rolled down to let heat out.
How exactly does the dealer program the windows to activate with the keyfob?
What do they attach to the car?

After doing a little research I discovered that "global window control" from the keyfob has been disabled on U.S. Models due to....
Wait for it....
Lawsuits! Go figure! People I guess love to close the windows on their childrens heads. That being said, I get to lose out on a cool feature of my car.

Yeah, the keyfob is disabled for american x's and s's, however, the keyhole does work. And yeah, I wish it would roll them all down, that would be even cooler, but the european jags don't even have that, so it's not much to complain about I guess. I'm sure if you REALLY wanted it, you could have it done for a huge price, but just not worth it to me. :P

Don't know about the X but the S with global operation opens and closes from the fob.

It works on my 07 x type. Perhaps the dealer can program your key fob. I find it useful when I have the moon roof open.
