A bit more clarification = the sequence listed above needs to be done in all 4 windows to "supposedly" enable key fob global window up by pressing lock releasing and re-pressing for more than 3 seconds.

Similar to resetting the auto up function. The window buttons have 5 positions = 2+, auto up, 1+, up, 0, neutral, 1-, down, 2+, auto down. Instructions were hold up button in position 1+, to fully close window, wait 2 seconds, release button for 2 seconds, again lift button to 1+ position for 4-5 seconds (but not longer than 6 which automatically cuts out power to preserve motor).
This is SUPPOSED to enable global close on key fob by locking, releasing and then holding lock fob longer than 3 seconds.
Didn't work on mine either. Just tried twice. But the key actually in the door to lock, then turn again and hold, closes windows and sunroof.

So on another "fix-it" site, I found a Jag tech response to this question. It makes no sense to me, but here it is =
He said turn the key on and off 3 times quickly without starting car, it should enable "global" window up. If 3 times does not work, try 4 times.

Personally, this sounds like "voodoo", but here it is anyways.

This sound dump, but I did not know the fold down rear seats knobs in the trunk until I saw them on my daughter's Ford Focus, by that time I already own third X-Types.

One thing Jag put on information that annoying me is the message : "It's cold temp. out side" but I don't know how to disable it; When I go out to drive the car in the Winter, don't I know it was cold out side?

It is an on or off feature that a dealer can disable. Drove Bimmers quite a bit, cold and ice reminder never bothered me.

I believe that on a lot of cars these days, if you look closely at the 'petrol pump' icon in the dashboard display, whatever side the fuel delivery hose sticks out indicates the side of the car that you refuel at.

DUNKS

Also if you lose power to the trunk/boot latch when it's closed.
YOU ARE IN ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE.
Especially Brit spec as we don't have the internal strap to open same from inside. "we don't tend to lock our kids in there"
One of the pathetic features of the car- no key operated manual unlocking.
My old 98 Ford Mondeo Ghia X /Contour had several features that are missing on the X type

I am NOT in trouble as I have a done the five cent fix.
It was one of the first modifications I did when I had read up on the forums about the situation.

So I will agree, most folks would be in trouble.
Owners of US models do not fully escape.
I have read - smash one of the rear lights to get access to the child emergency handle.
One US guy tried this
Details of his efforts.

A search of the UK forum will show a fully detailed step by step method.

My obvious suggestion is do the mod now just in case.

On any sat/nav screen displaying the time in the upper right corner = if you touch the time display for a few seconds, it brings up the change time screen (normally found in the menu button(s) screen. A quick short cut to update or change (like US daylight savings time).

I think this was only on the 03 or 04+ models though, not completely sure. Or if you just turn the key while it's in the door to make it lock, and hold it for 2 seconds it will roll them up.
yay! My 04 2.0 DS does that 😎

My Xtype also does that! Be nice if the windows rolled down when unlock is held.
