Default I figured out my hub/bearing issue

Took the knuckle and hub and another front bearing of my 02 2.5 to the local shop and he showed me that I had not removed the outer race from the original bearing and it was still attached to my hub...thus was the problemo in pushing the hub back in.

I had thought it was part of the hub...didn't know that.

Just a quick note to all who are going to attempt a replacement of a front wheel bearing...take off all the old parts first!

Should have her back together real soon, early this evening.

That WILL tend to make things a bit harder...LOL!

Glad to hear you're going to have the kitty up and running again.

Hey Seeker

I was looking at your toys, I had almost the identical chopped Bonneville, I had TT pipes and cams and a Sportster tank (less round more straight up in the front sloping dow to the seat) and a king / queen seat for 2 up riding. I sold it to a guy who put a similar springer on it, mine was 12 over tubes with the external springs chromes and a 5 degree rake, but he crossed some railroad tracks and the springer broke, that was pretty much the end of the bike.

Cool!

I built that two winters ago all from stuff I bought on Ebay.....actual period 60's stuff such as the springer, oil tank, etc. Bought a matching numbers frame and engine in boxes to start off with. Then added the hard tail and Harley rear wheel laced to a Triumph hub.

I never ride it though as my back can't handle it.

All the fun was in the build!

I had to wear a kidney belt but it wasn't as bad as you think. Until the cotter pin came of the rear drum brake rod at the pedal, and the thing whipped around about a hundred time nailing me in the thigh each pass.

I built mine out of a 68 I bought, I spent more money on chrome than I did in the actual bike. over a grand I think. Looked great I wish I could find a picture but my ex cleaned house!!!

Take a closer look at my Tri-chop....

You had a real saddle.

I made mine from a Sportster seat pan that I hacked, cut, and bent to fit. I did have it professionally upholstered so it looks real good. But it has about 1 inch of foam padding inside it.

If I keep this thing, I'm planning on putting on a solo saddle with chrome springs.
