Default I have plus size wheels need help with springs

I have a X-Type w/18˝ rims (1˝ above OEM).When two adults get in the back the wheel wells start to rub on the tires when I hit a bump, actually only one does.Right now I have 2.5˝ of clearence between top of tire and wheel well.My question,to anybody with some exp. with this problem is : If I buy a lowering kit,Eibach comes to mind, and it will lower it another 1.4˝,will I still have the same problem? I´m well aware of the fact that those springs are stiffer and ride comfort gets somewhat worse, for every action there is a reaction, right? I just wanna´ eliminate this annoying problem w/the rubing. If anyone can give me some helpful advice I would really appreciate it.Thanx

I think you would probably be better off having a body shop or car customizing shop roll the inside of the quarter panels. I've done this on past cars with great success. Or buy a wheel with the proper offset or go with a narrower tire. What size are you running?

I have 225/40/18´s offset is 38 on the rims(F5-Model 85).The sport package X-type comes w/225/45/17´s so the width itself hopefully is not a problem.I have some extra thick springs on the back now but it jacked up my rear end another 1/2˝.So now I have 3˝ of clearence between tire&wheel well.It does´nt look totally ridiculous and I eliminated the rubing but Im not fully happy w/the look.Putting 35 or 30 profile rubbers on might not be an option for me ´cause where I live roads really suck and it would only be a matter of time before I would warp my rims.I you have any more ideas Im all ears and I really appreciate you trying to help me.Thank You.Mark.
