I was an immense a-hole and rear-ended somebody yesterday. I literally looked away for maybe a second, a second and a half and traffic was dead stopped in the middle of an intersection with a green light. I laid on the brakes but the car just didn't slow down. Speed limit is 35 in that area and I honestly don't think I was doing that because that road is always stop and go at that time of day. I've been saying for a while I hate the traffic on that road and need to move - maybe I just need stop being an a-hole. I had just upped my insurance but still didn't have collision so my insurance is not covering any of the damage. I posted it in the Classifieds and on Craigslist.
I looked all over for a British Racing Green with the Sport package and it JUST rolled 100k miles. I'm so disgusted right now.

 

I feel for you Tizz easy done.
I did this with my wifes motor, shortened it by a couple of feet. Fortunately it was an old banger and our UK insurance always covers collision.

 

Man, sorry to see this. At least it sounds like you weren't injured and I hope the other person wasn't either. Just shows how quick stuff like that can happen. Looks like a lot of damage to the front and I would guess even if you had collision the insurance company would have totaled it. Looks like a very nice car, especially with the hard to find Aruba wheels. Hang in there.

 

Did it pop the airbags? That doesn't look like a hard fix, mostly bolt-on, and the odds are good you can even get the parts in the same color...

 

Sorry to see this, good you are okay tho. What happened to the brakes? In my experience the ABS works really well. I had a similar incident a few months ago in crazy stop and go traffic. I had a 3 other ppl in the car talking and the radio on and I was driving. Traffic would move quick, then stop abruptly. I looked away and then back to the road and had a car in front of me at a dead stop all of the sudden, brake lights on, and I slammed my brakes and turned the wheel some doing everything to avoid a crash. Luckily I did, by an inch or two. Closest call I've had, but the brakes saved the day.

Sorry to see that and to hear your insurance doesn't cover it.

Although it looks a straightforward repair, I'd be like you and not want to see it again.
