Default I'm impressed (times two)!

Two recent experiences with my X-Type that have me bowing before the mighty leaper:
  1. A week or so ago (on dry pavement), I took a very hard left turn—enough to evoke loud protestations from the tires. Much to my amazement, there was not the slightest hint of either understeer or body roll—the first time I've ever had such an experience in any car with more than two doors. The balance of this car is incredible!
  2. Last weekend, as has been well discussed around the forum, northern Virginia got a major snowstorm. I have to confess that I've been somewhat skeptical of what I thought were exaggerated claims of the X-Type's performance in slippery conditions. No longer—my (front-wheel drive) Ford Escape had to be completely dug out before it would move, and I hadn't even driven a tenth of a mile in it before I got stuck (which says more about the road conditions than the car—it actually performs pretty decently in the snow and ice); the Jag, on the other hand, pulled out with barely a hesitation while the snow was still up to the bumpers, and I've yet to have the slightest problem working my way through any kind of snow and ice.
Luxury-car ride, sports-car performance, four-wheel drive snow capabilities…what more do I need? Needless to say, I'm a very happy guy!

That's a great story! We've got snow coming in here tomorrow night and I have to get to work by 5AM Thursday morning. I've had to do that before with my X and it's just fine.

Slow and steady wins the race.

My X performed excellent with all of the snow we got this past weekend. Not one issue while other cars were getting stuck and spinning around.

i've found that my x-type actually rides and handles better at speeds over 70 and in rain and snow.

hmmn, I am not convinced yet. We got a foot in Boston over the weekend, and my X-Type couldn't back up in my driveway over 8 inches...of very light fluffy soft snow. I had to shovel down to the pavement or she would only sit and spin. Yet my previous Passat would have rumbled right through the snow in the driveway without so much as an after thought.
