Default Improved transfer case?

After reading numerous posts regarding the failures with transfer cases, and beginning to think I'm about to become a victim, I am curious as to if any mods have been done to the newer TC's to make them more reliable.

lauriel, as for anything you can bolt or easily modify, no there isn't. The best thing that you can do is when the transfer case fails, get the case from out of a 04+ X-type. The case was re-designed in 04 and seems to work a little better as it tends to flex less, leading to the problems. Some members are looking to create a bolt on piece, but that is still a long ways away. Even then, it would probably be a 1 off creation, not something that you can go to the local parts store to get.

Newer ones are **** aswell there full mechanical on 04 and up and viscous coupling on 03 and 02 . The newer ones fail in different ways the side axle bearing kicks out when you really give it . And the 04 and up are useless in the snow

I know you guy's have seen me say this before but: I had an 03 and now an 05, and the 03 was very good in the snow. The 05 feels like rear wheel drive... even in the snow. The 05 is better in many ways but falls short in the snow compared to the 05. Is it possible to put an 03 TC on the 05?
