Hi all, I have a 2005 3.0 AWD and it is very hard to take off smoothly, instead it launches uncomfortably. I recently replaced all shocks and it still pitches.

I assume from your post that you are having trouble when you press the accelerator pedal you get no response then suddenly the RPM's jump and away you go. There is no throttle cable the system is all electronic and the pedal sends a signal to the ECM and the ECM sends a signal to the throttle pedal position sensor and the throttle position sensor. You x-type has both a TPPS and a TPS on the throttle body.

Musso, try this, remove the intake tube going to the throttlebody. It has a special clip on it, so you will need to take a pair of pliers and press the two outside bumps on the band together some and then using a small flat-blade screw driver, you will need to slide it under the one band and lift up gently as you release the pliers. This will allow the band to come undone. A bit of a challenge the first time you do it, but once you figure out the trick, not that bad.

Once you have the intake tube off, use a rag with some carb cleaner on it and using a finger, push open the butterfly valve inside the throttle and then wipe away all the brown gunk that is there. Do not forget to wipe the edge of the butterfly valve (the silver disc that blocks the air). You may need to wipe a few times to get all the brown away.

PUt the intake tube back on and see what you have then. Odds are, your problem will be gone.
