Installing Alternator, do i need to remove Compressor?
Hi I war reading through some posts to see if there was a howto for installing an alternator and someone said the compressor needs to be removed. its late and i havent looked under the hood but is this true? Any other things i should know? thanks
ARE YOU SURE YOU REALLY HAVE A BAD ALTERNATOR? IVE SEEN MANY REPLACED ERRONEOUSLY WHEN BATTERY CABLES ARE THE PROBLEM WITH HIGH RESISTANCE, ESPECIALY WHEN THEY GET HOT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. tHE ONLY TRUE WAY TO CHECK IS RIGHT AT THE BACK OF THE POSTIVE CABLE STUD ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR CORRECT VOLTAGE

Its a big PITA I tell you, I removed the compressor from my parts car this weekend and if you are looking to get to the alternator you will need to remove the compressor or your radiator and condensor.
