Intake manifold bolt issue
Hey guys,
So I've got a problem that the search function hasn't helped me with.
I removed the intake manifold on my '03 3L X-Type to change the manifold gaskets and as I was reinstalling it, I overtightened one of the bolts and the threaded brass part that it screws into popped out of its seat. Any ideas on a way to fix this?
The part seems to be in fine shape (except for not being int he engine anymore) and there isn't a ton of torque on those screws, so I'm thinking JB Weld could work, but I'd appreciate any advice I could get.
If it helps, it's the passenger side (US), back bolt, #5 according to the JTIS.
Thanks in advance.
Kevin

ktag,
There are some very good 2 part epoxies with high temp attributes that will work. Sounds like you're going down that road. You can also try using a center punch on the plastic near the brass null. This will deform the hole and hopefully hold the brass null in place.
Good luck

Thanks, Jeeves!
So far the JB Weld seems to have held. I also have realized that there is space under the fuel rail (where the null sits) and, worst case scenario, I could replace the screw with a longer one and use a large washer to secure it.
I'll keep your center punch idea in mind, as well.
Thanks again!
