Interior lights only work on autolights setting
Hi Im going to do the best i can to describe the problem im having....
When i leave the lights on auto the dash/panels and Nav all light up properly. I also get the twin beam sign(the dash light that shows that your headlights are on) everything is perfect. But when i use the manual setting or any other setting for that matter. the fogs work(when pulled as usual) the hids are on but everything inside the car is off as if the lights arent on. even the Nav show the daytime colors. also the little light inside the hi beam bubble is off as well as are the amber parking lamps.....Please advise. thanks in advance. and I did search but because of the description i didnt find any results

jagkid, what year X-Type do you have? That will help us give you detailed instructions on how to get this fixed. My first thought on this is that your headlight switch has an internal failure to it. But, give me your year of car and I will look in the diagrams and confirm that.
May also be nice to the fellow members if you introduced yourself in the new member section. that way it helps us know who you are. You will find that we are a pretty humorous bunch that likes to get to know each other.

jagkid, first, check fuse #38. It is a 15 amp fuse. If that is blown, that can cause what you are seeing. Next, remove the headlight switch from the dash and locate the red wire (pin 8 to the plug for the headlight switch). Verify that you have 12 VDC there. If no 12 VDC, then you have a bad fuse or a wiring issue between the fuse and the headlight switch. If you have 12 VDC there, move the headlight switch over to either the parking light position or the headlight position (non-auto position). Now, open the glove box, does the light come on there? If no, then you have a bad headlight switch.
If this doesn't fix your issue, then let me know and I will do some more looking and seeing what else is possibly in this. But, I think that should cover it.

Jagkid, what I want you to do is to first try swapping relays R11 and R4 from the fuse box under the hood. What may be happening is that when you flip between auto lights and normal lights, all the power is being fed through F38, vice through R11 (dip beam relay). This is overloading the fuse, causing it to blow.
If the fuse blows again, then I would look at the dimmer module and/or the headlight switch. Granted, when you replace one, you are replacing both of them since the dimmer module is part of the headlight switch.
Really, this is about all that it can be because when you start looking at everything else that can blow the fuse, it would occur in both positions (auto lights and in manual lights).
