Default Interior lights staying on!

Hi everyone been off site for a while cos car has been fine. Have now got a very strange problem with the interior courtesy lights staying on. They were working fine until I opened the drivers door with the car running. I closed the door to drive off but the lights stayed on. Now they stay on all the time. They do go off after 30 minutes when I leave the car which I think is to do with the battery saver system so therefore my battery does not go flat, just very annoying whilst driving. Is there a reset or relay somewhere for the timing that extinguishes the lights?

big woc, I know this is going to sound funny, but get in the car, start it up, climb out the passenger door, make a fist and give the door latch area a good whack. You may find that this will cause the light to go out. If this is the case, I would first try spraying the latch with some WD-40 and looking inside for a small plastic knob and giving that a good squirt. I have seen with other Ford models that the "door ajar" switch will stick, resulting in what you are seeing. A little bit of WD-40 is enough to make it work for a long time. Otherwise, you are looking at getting a new door latch mechanism and installing that.

Hi, I have just tried the thumping thing but only succeeded in hurting my hand. The lights are still on! . Will have to wait until the weekend so that I have more time to take a proper look, thanks anyway.

Well I just read these posts after this happens to me last night…. The bang didn’t fix anything but a good squirt of WD40 through the key hole and in the door latch certainly did the trick…. Thanks for the tip … 👏🏼

I wonder if big wok still has the interior light issue after 10 years?

I just developed a new "interior light does not turn off anymore"-issue.
I found Thermo's advice above. I skipped the "musical chairs" solution and went straight to the WD40 solution.
I know that silicone would probably have been better, but I adhered to the WD40 advise.
I sprayed all 4 door-locks plus the key-hole.
That solved the problem.
