Newly aquired 2004 X-Type with nice interior but the cloth on the interior trim pieces on each side of the windshield is coming off. Looks as if a previous owner tried to glue one side (you can see it discolored through the fabric).

Does anyone know the safe way to remove the trim pieces? I am thinking I will need to replace the one that is discolored. Is buying a new piece the only option? I personally think they would nice as a black hard coating, matching the dash.

Any ideas are very much welcomed.

 

Our x type was the same,you can get these trims without cloth i removed the 2 trims covered with cloth and replaced them for same colour in plastic no cloth and easier to clean.
