Default iPod connection?

My 05 X-Type has the single cd player in it. Does it have the capabilities of wiring up an iPod connection? Or do I have to swap out the head unit?
I have an FM transmitter but it doesn't pick up the signal well at all. Not sure where the antenna is to place it well.

Any help would be appreciated.

ive heard that there is an adapter you can get from the dealer that hooks and ipod up to the cd changer part of the head unit. i think it costs around $200 to $300. not worth it in my opinion. ill just burn cds

Is that $250 installed or just for the connector?

I have it in my X-Type (it came with it) and i could not live with out it! The controls on the wheel control it and it installs and hides in the arm rest. I had a loaner car for a week and could not stand it without the iPod. I belive it is called the ACM unit. very cool and worth every penny!

Hmm, $250 installed? I remember it was $400 a year ago ...

Also, how big is it? Is there a way I can get it installed on the side of the console or in the glove compartment or something? I would like to have some space in the arm rest for other junk.
